I have a bunch of Aeotec Z-Wave Smart Switch 6 which have absolutely atrocious signal range, even though mains powered devices are supposed to be repeaters it just didn't work.

Bought this and plugged in in, roughly in the middle of my house and joined it to my network, now all of my Z-Wave devices, ring door sensors etc connect flawlessly.

Other than joining our to your Z-Wave network properly, no other configuration is needed.

I use Home Assistant and an Aeotec Z-Stick Gen 5.

These just work. There’s little more to say.

I tried creating a z wave network for plugs and sensors before using Smart Things, cue many failed attempts and head scratching to reset units.

This just works.

Open box. Add plug terminals. Turn on and hold button for 2 seconds and the app finds it. Simple.

I have one approx 50 meters away from the main unit (with 5 metres open space between) and one approx 30 metres away from main unit. Both paired straight away and have extended reach of network.

I was a bit worried about the distance between tis and the base, as it's installed in a garage at least 50m away, with thick walls in between, But it works perfectly, and the setup was just as quick and easy as the main house units.
I love the simplicity of the Ring Alarm System, but it would be nice to see more detectors added, eg, smoke, CO, temperature, noise.

Lots of bad reviews saying it didn't extend WiFi signal or improve Ring camera feed... Check the description, it's not supposed to!

This boosts the range of Ring alarm devices (door sensors, motion sensors) to the alarm base station. They don't connect directly to WiFi like the cameras/doorbell.

This product does its job, letting me add alarm sensors to my garage doors.
If you need generally better WiFi, look for a WiFi range extender.
