I have a couple of these and the only reason they have 4 star rather than 5 is that they could be so much better!
When you live view, you are given less than minute of watch time before it shuts itself off via the blink app. This is understandable on the battery models as it helps prolong the life of the batteries, but this is plugged in via USB, so really it could be used continuously and it wouldn’t harm anyone. I’d love to be able to use this as a baby monitor as such, as the picture quality is fantastic but it’s not feasible with such a short watch time.
I am sure I have read that if you have a paid subscription to their service then you can have up to 5 minutes (not 100% sure on this so double check) which is a good improvement but they are missing out on a huge opportunity to have these cameras hit another demographic of people.
If you have the Alexa show (the one with the screen) and you ask her to show you this camera, you do get longer to view. But again, until they make Alexa’s portable you wouldn’t be able to use this as much of a companion and it’s an added cost just to get the extended view.
Whether blink will change these things in the future, I’m not sure, but for now they are handy to check in on things but not for longer viewing sessions.
As mentioned above, I have two of these and various blink products and cannot recommend them highly enough.
