Easy to install can be done in under 30 minutes wired is a option If you want down the line, but I went with the battery Verison. The battery is lasting three months and still going it's coming up to get a charge soon but it's based on the alerts, notification, and how much you used the camera before a recharge, its easy to charge you unscrew and take out and use a usb cable with main plug. Camera quality is amazing as well as clear and even at night.

Audio and communication through camera or device is excellent and camera cover large area and can be customised to alerts at certain trigger points. These camera can be used both inside and out. I high recommend compared to other brands and models

3.0 out of 5 starsNot suitable for use with a 4G mobile router
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 4 January 2023
I have been trying to use this outdoor stick-up cam (with rechargeable battery) to help monitor the front of an empty property that is over 50 miles away. I have two cameras, one indoors that is plugged into an electrical socket and the other outdoors (that uses a rechargeable battery). I am using a 4G mobile router for wi-fi at the property as the property does not have a regular broadband connection. The indoor Ring camera works fine (most of the time - occasionally it drops the wi-fi signal) but the stick-up cam is proving to be a pain. It keeps dropping the wi-fi connection and the problem with that is that you cannot reset the device without being physically present in order to press a button underneath the cap of its base. No doubt I will have to experiment with the location of the mobile router in order to get a stronger signal, but it does not help that the stick-up cam appears to work at first only for it to drop its wi-fi connection after I have travelled back home. It is also annoying that nowhere in the literature regarding this camera does it tell you the size of drill bit you need in order to install it in brickwork. (You need a 7/32 inch drill bit, by the way.) It is only once you start installing the camera that the installation app itself tells you that you need a 3/16 inch drill bit (however, for the plugs supplied I found that a drill bit size of 7/32 inch was better - this gave a tight fit to the wallplugs, which I had to tap in with a hammer). That information should be provided on the web page and on the leaflets included in the packaging - you should not have to wait to be told the drill bit size you need just as you are actually going through the process of installing the camera. (A drill bit is not included in the packaging.) As far as I am concerned, so far this is proving to be an unreliable product, which is awkward to reconnect to wi-fi: not what you want in a security camera.

Update two weeks later: I have been back to the house (that is over 50 miles away) to try to get the stick-up cam to work. This time I moved the position of the mobile router and of the stick-up cam. I moved them so that they are only around 6 feet from each other, with just a wooden garage door in between the stick-up cam and the mobile router. Again the indoor Ring camera (that is in the same garage as the mobile router) continues to work most of the time (sometimes though it does drop the wi-fi only to recover later in the day), but the outdoor stick-up cam still has problems. The rechargeable battery in the stick-up cam was down to 30% capacity after just 2 weeks - so I replaced the battery with a fully charged one - and (frustratingly) the same unreliability with the stick-up cam has recurred, even though it is now very close to the router with only a wooden door in between: I got it working fine while I was physically there (after much faffing around) only to find after I got back home that it had dropped the wi-fi connection yet again! I can only assume that I would need a much stronger wi-fi signal for the stick-up cam to work and I cannot provide that with my 4G mobile router. I was notified (by the Ring app) that the replacement battery that I inserted 5 days ago, when it was fully charged, is now down to 10%. I can only assume that the cam has been continuously trying to reconnect to wi-fi and depleted the battery in the process. I think I will have to abandon the outdoor stick-up cam and just keep using the indoor Ring camera: disappointing.

Update 10 days later: I think the main problem is that I am using a 4G mobile router and that does not provide a strong enough signal for uploading video on a consistent basis. That is not the fault of the stick-up cam. What may be the fault of the stick-up cam, however, is that when I checked in Device Health it told me that the wi-fi signal was strong enough. Maybe the signal was strong enough for downloading but it certainly was not strong enough for uploading video.

I have taken the stick-up cam down from the house that is 50 miles away and am now using it outdoors at home. So far it is working absolutely fine and consistently with my home broadband so I do think the problem is that the 4G mobile router is not designed for uploading video and I was just asking too much of it.

2.0 out of 5 stars OK, but far from perfect

I got this to help me protect my cars, as there have been a growing number of keyless thefts where I live.

Image quality isn't the best at night, where any kind of external light will flare up and wash into the image. If you try to re-adjust the position of the camera, the bolt comes loose that connects it to the base - so make damn sure you have it how you want it before adding the 'security' screw. Oh and don't use the security screws it comes with. Go to a DIY store and get something different, else your camera will be very easy to steal. The App is hopeless, you'd think after so much negative feedback they would sort it out. I've had numerous problems with it, especially where all of a sudden it logs me out and then it is a nightmare to get back in. It somehow refuses to let you type text and I had to change settings on my iPhone 14 to over come this every time. I would not advise running the App on multiple devices - as that's when the problems start to occur. I now only use the App on my iPhone. It's also slow and clunky. Battery life isn't great, two weeks with my camera that monitors the driveway and front door. I bought a second battery, so I can swap it over and never have the camera off line.

Positives? Well, it hasn't gone wrong yet. It was very easy to set-up and I can view it on my phone and an Echo Show I have upstairs. As I said, don't run the App on more than one device or you may have log in issues. The speaker is handy to ask delivery drivers to leave packages, rather than having to sprint to the door and break off mid Teams Meeting. It's very discrete and not that obvious - mine is a black one and sits underneath the front door porch. It is quite protected from the elements, but even when it's chucking with rain and windy or very cold with sub zero temperatures, it works fine. The motion detection is great and you can adjust the zone to minimise activations you don't want. Also, my cats can wander back and forth without setting it off. Humans register immediately. I've just fitted a second one (wired in this time) high up under a window sill in the bedroom overlooking the drive - this gives me a wider view around my property. The main reason for having these is to protect against car theft. I own a Porsche Cayman and an Audi RS4, both are still quite new. I was told the Audi is a magnet for car thieves, which is why I decided to add cameras to my current home security set-up.

Overall, it's neat, it works, it's easy to install and does the job. Like all Ring products, it could be improved. The App is abysmal though.

Update after 3 weeks use - now doesn't always connect to wifi and can take several attempts to get the live feed. The battery is lasting about 7-8 days before it needs charging again, meaning I have to get the step ladder out. Some of the claims made for this camera are false! Also, the fact it stops recording 30 seconds after detecting motion is no good. You should be able to configure it to an interval of your choice. I've taken my rating down to two stars and may return this device, as it's not fit for purpose. Probably cost a couple of pounds to manufacture with cheapest parts available.

It's a good camera for my needs. I keep it outside to spy on the local wildlife and bring it indoors when I leave the pooch alone.

The battery lasts for quite a long time.

Would buy another one.

I also purchased the titling base but that needs to be plugged in so very restricted and I wish I didn't bother with it. I haven't used it at all.

I must admit the quality of this camera is brilliant by ring. The build and the components used are good!
I went down the road of buying a camera that I hadn’t really heard of which I put up outside and two weeks later it stopped working.
The ring camera as been up now for a month in wind heavy rain and sunny weather and no problems.
The only thing I think is a bit bad is the fact that I also have a ring doorbell that runs on the same app which I subscribe to as a way of keeping content if I should need to use it. They also expect you to pay another subscription to be able to keep content from the camera too.
So if you don’t want to have to pay a subscription for two separate cameras steer clear of ring and maybe get something else!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value and practical with easy installation

Verified Purchase
This is the second Stick Up Cam I purchased, following on less than a month from the first.
Contrary to some other reviews I am finding the battery life good. The first camera has been operational for 7 weeks and is still 63% charged registering around 2-3 motion detections per day, while the second camera has been in place for 5 weeks and is now down to 41% charge but registers around 10 motion detections per day. As I have been experimenting with them both to find the best position and sensitivity settings I am frequently accessing the cameras online.
Initial observations on the performance of the cameras is that the picture quality is good, both for the B&W night time and the colour day time.
I had difficulty in setting up the second camera as it would not connect to the Wi Fi, but the online support chat option with Ring was quick and resolved whatever was causing the problem. Why the second camera was different is strange as setting up the first was very simple.
I am still somewhat confused by the sensitivity setting under Motion Detection. It offers three radial zones covering the 130 degrees of vision that can be switched on or off and then a Sensitivity slider but I cannot work out what it is changing. Whether it changes the distance at which detection is triggered or the.movement speed is not clear.
There is also a Motion Verification option that says is reduces unwanted motion notifications but again I am uncertain what the defining parameter is. I have this function switched on for both cameras and I have noticed that the one facing the front door does not always register a person leaving the door, but on almost all occasions registers someone arriving at the door. Whether this is because the algorithm is learning the repetitive nature of movement commencing at the door is unclear.
The Motion Frequency option is also unclear. It offers Frequent, Standard and Light but I cannot see what parameter it is measuring to make the decision to notify and record motion detected.
One gripe is the 30 second limit on the recording length when the camera is in auto detect mode. This is even shorter if Motion Verification is turned on and motion ends before the 30 seconds have expired. For a lot of events 30 seconds is sufficient but I have noticed that when the camera is triggered by an individual (or animal) that doesn’t immediately continue into the detection zone but stays on the edge for a while, by the time it then moves further into the FoV the 30 seconds has expired and the camera goes in to sleep mode for a while before resetting itself in preparation for the next detection. During this time the subject has moved back out of the detection zone.
Resistance to water seems quite good. One camera is currently only on a garden table (as I am experimenting with its positioning and Wi Fi range) pointing slightly upward so is subject to a considerable amount of rain which we’ve had recently. Other than droplets occasionally staying on the lens, the camera has not suffered from any water ingress. The other camera is wall mounted pointing downwards so doesn’t suffer the same problem. Frost and condensation does seem to be an issue but I suspect you’ll get this with any camera.
The microphone is quite good but is very sensitive to wind noise. The voice option isn’t that loud, but the siren is effective enough.
Finally, the other aspect most other reviews have an issue with; Wi Fi performance. This seems to be another strange one. I have a BT Smart Hub 2 with two extender discs. The Ring cameras only operate in the 2.4GHz band so cannot make use of the 5GHz band. This limits their performance. One camera seems to permanently latch onto the main hub and maintains a strong signal with an RSSI of -39, but the other camera seems to oscillate between the hub and one of the discs which is closer and its RSSI varies between -35 and -89, the latter being flagged up under the Device Health as a “Very Poor Wi Fi” signal, although it continues to notify and record movement. Why the second camera chooses to change which WiFi source it connects to when it’s static and not been relocated is a mystery to me! I did buy a separate 2.4GHz repeater but despite that I thought I had checked it out, the network name adds a suffix (EXT) to the name so the Ring devices will not recognise it. If I eventually choose a permanent position for one of the cameras some distance from the hub or discs I may choose to reset that camera to the new. WiFi network name.
Generally I have had no problem with getting the cameras to latch onto the WiFi signal but I have not yet tried to locate one of them a substantial distance from either the hub or repeater discs.
Notifications to my iPhone and iPad work well. It they don’t last long enough. Ring need to make the notifications longer in duration so you have a better chance of picking them up
One complaint voiced is the charge for access to the recordings after the 30 day free period. Quite honestly, why do people expect to get “something for nothing” these days. I have opted to pay the £49 pa for two devices and do not consider it to be too onerous, and it gives you an extended guarantee.
A last gripe though. Why have Ring changed the selection of App notification tones available? I liked Spooky Organs!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good picture, pretty reliable

I have had this fitted for about 4 months now so feel I can give an accurate review of how well this product works.
We bought it as our Hive outdoor camera died and this one was half the price but it is a much better product overall.
The installation was simple and the included mains cable was long enough for where we wanted to place it. It connected straight away to the WiFi and was up and running in no time.
The ring app is very good and is where you do the majority of the setting up. Once you are happy with the direction the camera is pointing you can set up zones you want to be extra vigilant and/or zones you want to exclude for neighbour privacy for example. The good thing about these zones is you don’t have to have areas confined to square/rectangular shapes. They can be adjusted with angles which is a great feature if your camera views over an incline like mine.
The night vision is great but it does pick up the headlights of passing cars sometimes and thinks it is someone approaching the camera which can get annoying. The sound and microphone is good with little to no lag when talking to people through the camera. Unlike the Hive you can view what’s going on when you get a notification straight away as it pits you straight to live view which is a very useful feature. Viewing recent recordings takes a small while to load but it is pretty quick.
In the four or so months the camera has frozen twice which was remedied once by a reboot via the app and another time by pulling the cable out of the back of the camera itself. This is slightly concerning as it wouldn’t be overly useful if it happened whilst on holiday or something but hasn’t happened since.
Overall, I would recommend this product as it is easy to use, has a reliable app interface and is a reasonable price. Even the subscription to the ring app is about £3 per month which isn’t too bad. Hopefully the freezing up was just a one off.

Bought for outdoors, to cover the front porch area of my house. It was very easy to set up and install on the wall. Picture quality is excellent. I was unsure if I could talk 2 Way to the camera using an Amazon Echo, eventually found out how to connect the Ring Camera to my Alexa and it works great. After getting the Ring Skill and linking the camera to Alexa you just say, "Alexa, talk to [camera name] and the 2-way communication is live, great if you're upstairs, you can ask who's there before checking the camera view. I already have 3 camera CCTV that covers the front, back and side but the front door was not covered, this camera is perfect for this, I'm very impressed.
