3.0 out of 5 starsGood for Alexa, not so good for anything else

If you live in the US and exclusively use Alexa products, then I guess it will work well…. but if you use Apple HomeKit and Zigbee (i.e. Philips Hue) or Thread (i.e. Eve) products, then don’t expect the Thread and Zigbee features to work. It CANNOT be configured in HomeKit any more either, 1Password.eu is not supported, and config options are limited unless you subscribe monthly.
Some units have decided to connect via wifi even though I’ve plugged in Cat6 ethernet backhaul. I have no control over the connection type. Sometimes when the ISP router loses internet connection, I also lose wifi inside the house, so IoT connections are lost in my local network.
There are some good features, but I don’t notice much of an advantage over the ten year old Apple Airport Express setup that it replaced. Plus these Eero devices are twice the size (see photos). The USB-C cable is fixed to the plug, so you can’t extend the length. However, you can control the brightness of the status light, which is good.
The third-party wall mounts are ugly and do not position the unit for optimum signal coverage… although Eero is vague about what position is best for signal strength. The app is quite good if you subscribe to Eero Plus, but it is expensive and some features are buried inside the troubleshooting area… and if you want to switch your 1Password account, they do not offer .eu as an option, so you will need to create a new 1password.com account (US-based) and spend at least an hour transferring your account.
