How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsGreat bit of kit!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 28 February 2023
I purchased this when me moved to a bigger house in November. I didn’t get round to installing it until a couple of weeks ago and until then we’d been using our Sky Wi-Fi router. We have loads if devices running simultaneously in our house including my sons PS5 which he’s on a lot. With the sky router I’d often get lag when lots of devises were being used.

Since installing Eero I’ve seen a massive improvement on Wi-Fi speeds! It’s also incredibly easy to set up.

We have three units. One that plugs into the sky router in the lounge, one in the hallway and the third is and the upstairs landing.

I’ve not heard my son shout ‘this internet is rubbish’ once since installing the Eero which is a massive bonus! haha

3.0 out of 5 starsGood for Alexa, not so good for anything else
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 1 January 2023
If you live in the US and exclusively use Alexa products, then I guess it will work well…. but if you use Apple HomeKit and Zigbee (i.e. Philips Hue) or Thread (i.e. Eve) products, then don’t expect the Thread and Zigbee features to work. It CANNOT be configured in HomeKit any more either, 1Password.eu is not supported, and config options are limited unless you subscribe monthly.

Some units have decided to connect via wifi even though I’ve plugged in Cat6 ethernet backhaul. I have no control over the connection type. Sometimes when the ISP router loses internet connection, I also lose wifi inside the house, so IoT connections are lost in my local network.

There are some good features, but I don’t notice much of an advantage over the ten year old Apple Airport Express setup that it replaced. Plus these Eero devices are twice the size (see photos). The USB-C cable is fixed to the plug, so you can’t extend the length. However, you can control the brightness of the status light, which is good.

The third-party wall mounts are ugly and do not position the unit for optimum signal coverage… although Eero is vague about what position is best for signal strength. The app is quite good if you subscribe to Eero Plus, but it is expensive and some features are buried inside the troubleshooting area… and if you want to switch your 1Password account, they do not offer .eu as an option, so you will need to create a new 1password.com account (US-based) and spend at least an hour transferring your account.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good WiFi 6 Mesh Router But Expensive if Not On Offer!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 30 December 2022
Configuration: 3-pack (up to 420 m²)Verified Purchase
I bought the three pack so I could have an eero on each floor of my house. The ground floor eero is designated as the Gateway unit and is plugged directly into the BT fibre panel (I do not use the BT home hub in my setup). The other two are hardwired with cat6 Ethernet into a TP link switch which then connects to the other port in the Gateway eero unit.

I have BT Full Fibre 500 and have no issues getting this speed from the router.
As my eero's are all hardwired they all operate at full gigabit speed and I have strong WiFi all over the house. I cannot comment on the WiFi linking as I do not use this.

I regularly have at least 20 devices connected from vacuums to speakers and phones etc. There have been no issues with the number of devices connected.

The app is good and fairly featured, you can change your DNS settings and setup various LAN settings like the DHCP pool type etc. I would have liked a VPN server built it, but its not the end of the world.

The eeroPlus package is far too expensive, £99 a year! The inclusion of 1Password, Malwarebytes & Encrypt.Me are not interesting (to me) as I use alternatives. Ad Blocking & Content Filters would have been nice, but can be configured separately with a PiHole or something similar. I would have perhaps paid £20 a year for the main stuff without the external apps. If any of these things are a requirement to have within the app and you don't want to pay the fee then I would suggest looking elsewhere (Asus perhaps) as these things are baked in by default!

I picked this up on a Black Friday deal so it was very reasonable, I would not have paid full price.

Overall, it has very much been plug in, setup and not worry about it since! A great buy.

I have internet by YouFibre and already have an eero router in my living room. The problem I had was that I live in a 3 storey town house and the internet dropped out on the top floor. I decided to buy this as a booster. I placed it on the middle floor and began the set up which was incredibly easy. Using the eero app you simply have to select add device and let the app do the rest. It was connected and set up within a few minutes.
I now have perfect fast WiFi on all floors with no dead spots at all. I can even game on my PS5 on the top floor with no issues at all.
I am delighted with this eero product and have decided to give it 5 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really good system for technophobes ..... ish!

Lets start of with the positives.

1. Incredibly stylish
2. Very simple instructions
3. Nice app
4. Good Wi-fi 6 coverage

So, if everything goes well out of the box, then people will rave about this system. However...... if it doesn't work exactly as you want it to (I installed 2 systems and both needed tweaking), you wont be able to set this up yourself without some knowledge of networking.

How the system operates is that it wants to be the modem / initial gateway router, which generally will mean replacing what it is that was already there. This may require usernames / passwords for connection, which the Eero system will let you put in, but not without trying it's "idiot proof" setup a few times before eventually you find the button to manually change the settings.

In addition, the old router which you want to keep in the network will need reconfiguration to fit with the new system, and in one of the cases, it was easier to just avoid making it the gateway.

Ultimately, it's a good system, but I can see some people struggling because the ease of setup is aimed at the normal non techy user, but I can see quite a few of those struggling with this.

The range is good, although it's not as impressive as I'd have expected for a 6+

Overall though, I like the way the Mesh system works, and it is seamless between the different pods. No problem at all recommending others to use this system

Bandwidth is impressively efficient. Filled in two dark RF shadows in the flat with 80%+ efficiency. Be sure to measure bandwidth with each node in different orientations as physical placement makes a huge difference in performance - there’s no escaping basic antenna theory.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, Intuitive, Game Changer
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 24 December 2022

These are great. I recently moved from BT to Virgin. BTs router had rather good wifi coverage in the house although I did install a couple of TPLink Ethernet over power line extenders to give better coverage in parts of the house. Virgin’s router’s built in wifi is by rubbish range and consistency in comparison. I was also not happy with the TP link extenders as they did not operate as a true mesh - handing a device seamlessly from one TP to another as you walk around the house (instead it was hanging on too long to a distant weak TP). I investigated these eero and have to admit the install was simple and intuitive, and the app then lets you see which devices are attached to which eero at any time - also allows you to limit a device (eg bedtime for kids). I placed two diagonally opposite downstairs and one centrally upstairs. I now have the full Virgin speeds all over the house and can move seamlessly around without drops. I’m really impressed. I have also now taken advantage of a feature that you can route traffic back over Ethernet to the basestation - it’s not necessary (they can operate fully wirelessly) it’s just I had an cat 6 (8wire => Gigabit route back - 4 wire only gives 100Mbs route back) Ethernet pre-wired in my home - eero says it can improve performance by reducing wifi bottlenecks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than BT whole home wifi but with catches
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 10 October 2022
Configuration: 3-pack (up to 420 m²)Verified Purchase
Our BT whole home WiFi wasn't whole home at all. Yes there was WiFi everywhere but there was lagging when gaming sometimes but never any problems streaming video (due to the caching). More hot spots from BT and same old problems.

Then we purchased EERO and our 40Mbs Broadband from BT was instantly so much better. No more lagging in online games. We didn't need a broadband upgrade we needed a superior WiFi mesh network than BT could offer us.

However, BT broadband came with family safety, web filtering and more, and yet this is all extra monthly or annual costs with EERO. I wasn't expecting that. EERO is great but unlike BT the additional services of protection are an optional additional ongoing cost. Fair enough, that's their business model but I'm not happy paying for it, making the protection in our home worse than some other WiFi solutions for the whole home

Aside from the pay wall for decent support and protection, EERO is fab. If money is not a problem, buy it.

I’ve tried UniFi and TP Link products and hands down Eero performs the best.
I have 3 eero, all wireless linked, across 3 floors of my house, and I get the full speed even on top floor!

So amazing and well worth the money - get it !!!

App lacks features, and could do with multiple SSID but this is excellent regardless

It’s fixed my Wi-Fi issues at home

I was hoping that this would give me seamless wifi, which it just about does, but the signal strength is not as good as expected.
Also disappointed to find out that Amazon Echo Dots advertised to work with Eero as extenders don't work in the UK.
