Excellent alarm

The whole system is easy to set up with clear step by step instructions on the application. We have had no false alarms and the motion detectors have flexibility for type of detection.

The door sensors are fine but you do need to door frame and door itself to be flush for the connection to work. Our UPVC doors sit on top of the frame. You can buy specific blocks to raise the height of the sensor which are quite expensive. I just used some small plastic blocks and some double sided sticky tabs and it works fine.

Overall very pleased with set up and ease of use with the application.

We also have a ring door bell but this does not connect to the alarm system or slightly frustratingly use the Wi-Fi extender that is part of the system.

Ring Customer support is abysmal.

I purchased a set and some extra sensors. One of the motion detectors did not work and had a serious fault that flattened the battery in hours. I contacted customer service and after some time getting through they agreed to replace it. I had to contact them again to arrange a delivery date and had to go through the whole process again. A replacement was sent except it was the wrong type 1st Gen., not 2nd. I then spent 30 mins online explaining the problem, sending a picture, etc. only to be told she could not help and I had to ring another number for help. Extremely disappointing, Ring need to get their act together

I actually got this security system on a Black Friday deal, and it was a steal! (oh the irony) The setup process was incredibly easy.It took me less than half an hour to get everything up and running.

One thing I really like about this system is how slick it looks. The design is sleek and modern, and it doesn't look out of place in my home. Plus, the app is really user-friendly. It's easy to navigate, and I love that I can control everything from my phone.

The other thing I appreciate is that you can add components to the system if you need to. I started with the 7 piece kit, but if I ever need to expand my security coverage, I know I can easily add more sensors or cameras.

Coming from a big brand hard wired system, I was sceptical about this Ring alarm but I really like their doorbells so decided to give it a try. Installed 11 sensors, one keypad and one hard wired outdoor siren. there was a bit of messing around setting it all up on the phone and getting the base to connect to all the sensors, but once done, it all works well. The ability to adjust/disable each sensor via your phone, set zones, adjustable siren volume and see everything remotely from your phone app is brilliant. You really feel in control and and turn the alarm on/off even when you're sitting on the other side of the planet. Impressed.

While I do like the Ring eco-system for its ease of use for non IT folk, having installed this for someone I don't really rate it. If you have Ring doorbell/cameras, then OK, might as well get this as an alarm - otherwise don't bother...

The base-station does have battery backup and mobile network backup (O2) if you pay for a sub(scription). Have not tried a different SIM. But WiFi connection seems poor, plus Ethernet port is at the top of device. WiFi is dual-band but not sure why you'd want to use lower-range 5GHz band? Antenna(s) seem weak with it always complaining it is "off-line" when other devices, cameras, etc. are just fine.

Z-Wave (used here) is not as friendly as Zigbee, but seems to be preferred for security devices, e.g. locks or alarms. But you won't be using any other vendor's units (PIR, contact, etc.) with this alarm - Ring only. With Thread/Matter coming that is a disappointment...

The keypad is nice, it has light on motion but pretty simple otherwise.

The sensors (PIR, contact) are huge, heavy and prone to breakdown. One has been stuck in "open" and had to be replaced. At least they use standard batteries: AA (PIR) and CR3032 (contact). Adhesive seems OK - so far - but PIR is very heavy - consider using screws.

On a deal with extra 2 sensors (thus 2 PIR, 2 contact) + 1 Ring camera - it is quite cheap for an alarm. I elected to use the "self monitoring", though if you pay the "Plus" sub for multiple cameras/doorbell(s) then you might as well use the "assisted monitoring".

I would only buy this alarm if you already have Ring doorbell/camera(s) and likely already paying for one of the sub. Otherwise, look elsewhere for better alarm, better sensors, etc.

I've had a house alarm system for awhile, but it wasn't a Smart system as when I purchased it they weren't even a thing and anything close to being described as "Smart" was thousands of pounds.

I've dabbled with Open/Closed sensors with other Smart hubs and devices with some successes, but usually it would end up failing or just be slow to report.

Anyway, after purchasing a Ring doorbell and a couple of cameras (+ subscription) I decided I liked the app and the products so much it could be time to look at the Alarm system, thankfully this coincided with Black Friday.

After setting it all up, which was surprisingly easy with all of the devices included in the box ready paired to the hub.

Reporting activity to my phone (doors open/closed, motion detected etc) is as fast as you could ever expect it to be and in a couple of days of use hasn't missed a beat.

I love being able to open the Ring app to see my Cameras as well as see if the shed or gate has been left open, that brings great peace of mind.

I doubt I'll use the actual "Alarm" function very often, probably only if I go away for a prolonged period of time - but just the level of information the system provides even when Disarmed is brilliant.

The Ring App has "Modes" which I've never found much use for just having cameras - until now, the alarm system has just made the app feel fully flushed and with some micro management you can really customise what gets arm/when, like for example you can set it so when your "Away" the whole system is active and any motion/opening of doors etc triggers the alarm, but also if your home and feeling a little unsafe or just protecting loved ones when you aren't home - you can set the App to "Home" mode so only the opening of certain doors triggers the alarm & notifies you, but the motion sensors etc are disarmed so people can roam freely.

My Alexa app has also detected all the sensors and will let me build routines around them, so that's another tinkering session at some point in the near future.

All in all, this system is great, highly recommend it.

Its a basic alarm system after all. I think they have some areas for improvement with motion and contact sensors and lot of areas to improve in the app specially when its in disarm and home mode.

Took me less than a morning to fit it all. I haven't fitted the outside siren yet but all the wiring to keep i on charge is in place so It will take perhaps an hour when I get round to drilling a hole through the outside wall!

So no problem but I only give 5* where the performance or service is well above what should be expected. So 4* is very good (probably equivalent to most people's 5*), for me 5* would need to be exceptional in some way.

This system is a bargain! I bought it to replace my dated system that didn’t support my virgin telephone line resulting in it no longer being monitored.

Very easy to install if you can use a drill. The app gives you step by step instructions on how to set up and link every bit of kit. A child could set this up its that straightforward.

Very pleasing to the eye.

Works as intended and very easy to use. Only downfall is there isn’t an alarm fob. Ring claim fobs compromise security due to thieves scanning the signal.

All in all i am happy!

This bundle is a great way of grabbing a few security devices for your home. We love having Ring cameras and sensors in the house. We've got 2 external doors with sensors, one in the lounge, one on the landing upstairs, and a camera looking at the back door. The peace of mind I get from knowing the (VERY LOUD) siren will ring out if someone tries to enter is priceless. My only complaint would be that Ring requires you to pay a subscription to store any video from the camera, otherwise it'll just live stream and trigger the alarm if it detects movement. It won't actually record that movement (such as if you're out of the house) unless you subscribe.
