I bought this product to replace an old security light in the back garden, so it wasn't too difficult to install . Being able to use the existing wiring , I managed it myself . After installation I connected the Ring floodlight cam wired plus to my samsung tablet ( phone needs upgrading ) and to alexa which I found surprisingly easy to do ( I'm 61 ) just follow the instructions from the ring app . So , up and running and from the comfort of my bedroom I can watch live view , study events of the day or check through any notifications , all from a friendly user interface and dashboard with lots of options to choose from to help personalise . I particularly like the siren feature, which can be operated if need be at the touch of a button . Sound quality is decent from outside coming in , but it seems distorted if I wanted to talk to someone outside . Fortunately, I do not need this much in the back garden .
The other fault I have is that I installed the cam too close to my Boiler outlet pipe , and if the central heating is on then I get a " person detected " alert from the plumes of steam activating the sensors . There is a snooze button for the alerts which doesn't compromise the recording facility though , so I use this sometimes.
The spotlights are quite bright but again these can be adjusted and the picture quality is very good .All in all I'm very pleased with the Ring Floodlight Cam wired plus , and when my free 30 day trial is up I won't mind paying the small monthly charge to keep the recordings active as I now have peace of mind at night .
