First of all I would like to make it known that I am not a fan of the lightning cable which I believe was only introduced by Apple so they could set a high price for replacements since these things, yes even the OEM variety do not last with problems emanating from split or frayed cables to simply not charging.
On the second count, it could be due to dirt that collects amidst the exposed pins of the lightning connector itself which to me is the result of a poor design. Why leave them exposed?
I should have been more observant when I purchased this set and gone for a shorter version. It would have helped if there was a 1.5m model. The 2m is simply too long and gets easily caught up resulting in both cable and phone or iPad ending up on the floor.
Most disappointing factor though is that after a few weeks, these things do not seem to work or at least the charging indicator of whichever device is being charged indicate that charging was not occurring. The OEM variety I have to admit works for much longer assuming the cable does not become frayed.
Perhaps my 3-star rating is harsh since the problem really is the design itself but I for one cannot wait for the coming of the USB-C charger though I gather Apple are intent on producing a type unique to themselves....... poor business strategy if you ask me since in looking to make more money, you'll only succeed in alienating your customers.
