Blink mini ======= I bought both the ring and blink cameras before Amazon bought both companies quite a number of years ago. They are still run as separate companies and I decided to see which was better. Over the years I bought more ring cams for outside and use the blink inside. When these dinky little blink mini’s came out I really wanted to try them, and after they dropped price in a sale I bought this and the pan tilt blink. The blink comes in a very compact box, but very well packaged. There are no useful instructions, only a QR code on the box and one on the device. Luckily they are not too difficult to set up. For those of you having also bought blink at the start also with a small amount of free cloud storage, I was grateful, the free cloud storage transfers on to these devices too. It's a pity there are no instructions - I had to use google just to look up how to remove the base - it's actually quite easy - hold the camera in one hand and gently pull base off with the other - this is to use the different mount points on the blink mini. I was also glad the new blink mini’s work just fine on my first gen blink sync module. Comparing the two, ring and blink, the ring blows the blink out of the water. The subs cost the same now they are both owned by amazon, but the ring cameras have way more options and the software is better - e.g. I use the ring on my laptop, phone and desktop, and detection zones , timeline history etc are better on the ring. With blink you're limited to just ios and android - yes you can run an android emulator on windows to run blink app, but it's messy, blink should have created a windows version too. The main thing going for the blink is the cameras are much cheaper than the rings. Overall I like the blink mini. It's very easy to set up and use. If you buy a blink mini, you can always buy a pan tilt body by itself later and pair them together (the app does all the work for you, it's very easy) - the pan tilt module is sold with and without the mini and can pair with your existing minis. Would I buy more? Only if they had a very good sale.
4.0 out of 5 stars
easy to set up and use, works with the optional pan tilt module available separately
