Incredibly easy to install. I've fitted many variations of cctv before and needed a good, quick installation, so chose this kit. Not disappointed at all!
I got everything working properly on the kitchen table in 5 minutes before fitting the cameras. This makes life easier, as you know it's all going to work!
Very simple and easy camera mounting system. Time will tell if it stays exactly where it was when you tighten it up. Any bumps to the camera will move it, so that is a minor weakness.
Anyway, both cameras mounted and up and running without fuss.
There's no stupid ongoing monthly payment too! Most camera manufacturers stitch you up for ongoing data storage charges as well as the purchase price. Not so with Eufy! Full marks for that. You can, however, pay to have data storage, but you don't "have" to if you don't want to, as the system comes with a mini data server. Someone will always argue "What if it gets stolen?"... Ok, if that worries you, take the optional offsite storage. At least you can choose with Eufy.
Minor-ish problem. You can exclude areas from the movement detection (Activity Zones), but, as has been widely reported, this doesn't work at all. Keep this in mind.
The iPhone app is pretty flawless and the cameras, once set up, send notifications as expected.
I've added a Eufy solar panel to each camera, just to be sure of continuity due to power.
It's worked for 24 hours and only alerted me to people, not cats and birds etc.
If it keeps going like this, I'll add the final star, which I reserved for that purpose.
So far - a very good purchase!

So far - a very good purchase!

I found them easy to setup and worked as promised with the exception of the 180 day battery life, one of the cameras needed charging after a week, but I must point out that I do have them connected to Apple HomeKit and use Secure Video which was the main reasons for purchasing them in the first place, and they do say up front that battery life will rundown quicker if they are set up in this way. Not to worry, I purchased their Solar panel separately which has sorted out the problem.
I would also like to point out that these cameras if connected to HomeKit will only record at 1080p and not 2k, this is not the fault of Eufy but to do with Apple, even so the cameras still produce a clear picture especially at night, and being able to view the footage in colour is a welcomed bonus, something which my other cameras from Netatmo and Ring couldn’t do.
Bottom line, I would recommend these cameras and I plan to purchase further cameras once my Ring subscription expires later in the year. Just in case you aren’t aware Eufy like Netatmo don’t charge subscriptions, unlike Ring which currently charge £80 a year if you have more than one camera.
So, I've had this system just over a month, and I thought I'd update this review to reflect my current views.
To be honest, most of what I said originally still stands for me - this is a good system but not perfect. during usage I've noticed the following:
-Battery appears to be as good as promised, I've lost one notch of the four on my front camera, and my driveway camera is still showing as full charge
-I haven't noticed any improvement on the delayed start, meaning that you do not get all movement captured. For example, if I exit via my back door and walk to my garage, the camera should capture me as soon as I step out of my house, but I'm often a few feet towards the garage before it starts to record
-I still notice that recordings stutter (although not a huge amount and this could be due to my broadband)
-The two way communication is great, in fact, we were out once when our postman tried to deliver a package, I had a nice conversation with him via the front camera, asking him to leave the package on my drive behind our bins (which he did) I also didn't feel the need to rush home as the other camera was keeping a watchful eye on it
-We've had some bad weather (high winds and heavy rain) and this hasn't affected the cameras at all - although I have also purchased covers (which I've also reviewed) so this may be the reason
ORIGINAL REVIEW
I conducted a lot of research before I decided to purchase this camera bundle, and my findings made me realise that no matter what system I looked at, there were always a large number of positive reviews with just enough really negative reviews to make me doubt whether I should proceed or not. It got to the point where I was going to give up, however, something about eufy appealed to me, so I took a chance.
To be honest, I’ve only owned the camera for two days, so it’s impossible for me to give a completely balanced review at this point, however, I will provide my initial thoughts and then revisit in a month or so to update.
Style:
Part of my reason for picking eufy, is I do find they make very attractive equipment - the design of the cameras is effortlessly stylish and even the packaging they came in (which is clearly Apple inspired) feels very premium.
Set-up:
This part really is easy, and it’s drawn in crayon within the eufy manual. There really is no getting it wrong, i.e. connect the ethernet between the base unit and your router; plug-in and switch on; download the eufy app and follow the instructions. Similarly, installing the cameras to an external wall was very easy (and I’m by no means a DIY expert). You’re supplied with a template that shows where to drill the holes and extra Rawlplugs and screws (just in case you mess up). I especially liked that it told me what size drill bit I should use.
Functionality:
Here is the part I will have to revisit in my update, however, my first impressions are really positive. The app is great, filled with lots of features to let you customise how you want the cameras to behave, and the picture quality from the cameras themselves is really good (which you’d expect with 2k). That being said, I do feel that an intruder could still be difficult to identify unless they come really close and look directly into the lens - it would have been good to have the ability to zoom in and retain crystal clear imagery, however, when I pinch to zoom on my iPhone things do get a little blocky. The quality is of course better when I transfer it over to my Mac, but it’s not perfect.
I do really like that you can set it up to just capture human movement or all movement. I have the camera that monitors my drive/garage to just capture people, whereas the camera that covers the front of my house is set to capture everything, so records vehicles as well. The downside is that the recording and notification system are not instantaneous - don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty fast, but I can easily walk onto my drive and get a few feet before it’ll start recording. This isn’t a dealbreaker for me, but a faster response could make all the difference in some scenarios. I haven’t tried the two-way communication yet (although no doubt I’ll soon be freaking the neighbours kids out when I see them on my driveway!) but I have noted that the sound quality from the speakers is quite good when listening.
Should you buy it:
Well, it all depends on your need. If you want a state of the art system that will capture and record every movement and provide detailed evidence should you be unfortunate enough to fall victim to criminal activity, then this may not be the system for you. If, like me, you’re just after a deterrent and some peace of mind when away from the home, then you can’t really go wrong with this package.
Summary:
I would currently split the advantages and disadvantages as follows:
Advantages:
-Easy to install, set-up and use
-Great quality picture (even at night) and lots of features to customise how you want each camera to work
-Easy to expand with additional cameras or the eufy doorbell
-No monthly or annual fees
-Great battery life (although I won’t know how true the 180 day claim is yet)
-Weatherproof
Disadvantages:
-Expected slightly better quality from the image given it’s 2k
-Sometimes stutters on recordings (this could be due to my internet speed though)
-Doesn’t capture movement instantly
