Finally I decided to try smart lighting and opted for this model and brand (I liked the possibility to change colours on it). I followed the instruction having installed the TP-Link app but I could not get it to register on my router using my Samsung Note 8 after many attempts. I was beginning to think that there was an issue with the bulb as I could see no reason why it wouldn't connect. I even tried it in another room closer to the Wi-fi without luck. I was ready to give up when I thought about trying it in my Apple Ipad.. Yay, this worked so I can only assume the phone was blocking the connection somehow! I managed to get it connected to Alexa to use voice which was a breeze.

So, thoughts on the bulb. I found it does gets quite hot near the socket and hope this wont be a fire risk. I'll have to monitor this. As for controlling it via voice, it's pretty simple although the lazy option compared to using a light switch BUT it does have added security as you can turn lights on when out so people think the house is occupied.

It's early days and 1 star dropped due to the above. Otherwise I am fairly happy with it so far and it's cheap enough too.

I like being able to turn the light on and off from my bed and the party mode is very fun. However they are just not bright enough. No where near the same level of light as a normal bulb. A shame as I would replace all my lightbulbs with them as I find being able to change the colour so fun and turning it on and off from my sofa or bed so useful, but just can’t cope with how much darker they make a room. They are also a little slow to load in the app. Will show as offline and you have to wait a few seconds for the app to catch up

I have two different set of smart bulbs in my house. These were straight forward o setup and the app offers some great functions such as party mode, relaxing mode and the schedule mode is also very handy to randomly on and off the lights when not at home, to make it appear as though someone is. All in all, they work very well but one frustration is that every now and then, randomly the bulbs go offline. This sometimes happens if the bulb was switched off via the app but if then try to use the mains a few times to switch it back on or off, then sometimes I noticed it disconnects. It is very straight forward to pair back again but this can be a small pain point as I have not had my other smart bulbs ever disconnecting.

These are the 5th and 6th Tapo products I have bought, being the 3rd and 4th bulbs of the same type
I had previously left a glowing detailed review, however, having had them for a couple of months now I am updating to say that these bulbs go offline without reason or warning.
Suddenly the Alexa and Google commands stopped working.
Having manually turned them on and off and on, the bulbs did come on but didn't respond to commands, Alexa , whilst the bulb was on, kept saying that the bulbs were not connected and to check power supply and network connection, none of which had changed.
I tried contacting Tapo support and apart from an automated reply to me submitting support request through the app, because there is no support telephone number, but the support request also sent my log files, I have still heard nothing back.
There is also no information in the faq for when your bulbs stop working with Alexa or Google home.
I figured out, after much trial and error, that you had to set up the bulbs again because they had forgotten that they were already set up.
Then a couple of weeks later it happens again.
There is no interruption in the WiFi or broadband or electricity supply, I would be notified because I have a number of medical devices that rely on both and talk a warming when either is interrupted.
I found some message boards, once I knew what I was looking for, and it appears that this is something that happens to other people too, still no response from Tapo to me or anyone in the boards, so do beware that these bulbs appear to be flzky and if you buy and install them you need to be able to fix these issues by yourself.
Also, the minimum brightness setting is 25%, which is extremely bright.
I had previously had other smart bulbs when Ch allowed you to dim all the way down, but these only have 4 brightness levés, 25, 50, 75 and 100%.
Will be looking elsewhere next time, such a shame really, nice idea, poorly executed and poor/ nonexistent support.

Plenty of adjustable features via TP link app. Maybe consider not using at a location where you'd manually be switching lights on/off frequently, as this resulted in a mismatch between the lights actual state (I.e.
