A workable TV back-light at last?

This is the latest in a long line of TV back-light systems I have purchased. All have inevitably failed after about two months and all have had issues.This one appears to be different. Fingers crossed!For a start it appears more professionally made. Even the packaging speaks of superior quality. The system does not plug into the TVs USB socket, but comes with a powered USB plug designed to fit in a mains socket. This was a relief to me on several levels, but primarily because the last back-light system I had failed and overloaded the TVs USB socket causing the TV to complain bitterly.Apart from the mains plug the assembly is much the same as any other; one sticks the ribbon lights to the rear of the TV via removable sticky backed 3M tape. And this (as with all the others) was its principal failing. The sticky backed tape didn't work, and in fact didn't even remain on the ribbon as one drew the tape off. See the photo; one can see the sticky tape actually coming off the ribbon and remaining on the tape backing. Not what was intended!To a degree the manufacturers had recognised this problem and provided additional individual stickers to help hold the ribbon lights in place. They do their job, but by themselves aren't really adequate when the backing tape is so bad. As you can see from my second photo I ended up securing the lights primarily by pieces of the remaining backing tape, which remained incredibly sticky and do a brilliant job even though that wasn't the intention!You will also note from the photograph that there is enough ribbon to provide lighting to all four sides of the 55" set, rather than just the three as is usual.But the operation of the lights; this is where the system shines (intended pun!). To operate the lights one can download an app to your phone or simply use the small control which is hard wired to the cabling, though the phone app is more handy as it doubles as a remote obviously, and has many more features which, surprisingly, work very well indeed.With previous back-lights I have been content to select the one colour (inevitably warm red), and leave it at that. But with this system (and the fact it can be operated when the TV isn't even on) there is much more opportunity for experiment. As well as the many lovely glows, it readily flashes to a musical beat and has several alternative lighting modes - I particularly like the flickering candle effect and use that when the TV isn't even on!I am very much a fan of the system and recommend it heartily. Of course the lasting durability of the system remains to be seen, and had the 3M tape been more effective I would have given this system top marks, but even so I consider it a good purchase.One word of warning; during installation on your phone the app asks for your network username and password. Its not required to use the system and its worrying it should ask for it. I ignored that feature and the system works fine.

Easy to install, looks great whilst watching films. Connects straight away to Bluetooth. Wifi didn’t connect but seen that they only connect to 2.4hz so no biggie, quick change over. Overall, impressed.

Purchased the product to use it along with the Govee Home App, as believed features like music, scene lighting, colour chart pick and control through app made it worth paying £24.99, rather purchasing another LED Strip which could cost me half the price or even cheaper.
BIG MISTAKE!!!
The LED strip itself is good quality, though the brightest colour 100% is DARK BLUE only, while every other colour seems dull though on full brightness 100%.
Easy to install the app, but once you connect it to your LED Strip device via your WiFi network, you come to realise the amount of software BUGS (issues) this app has!!
The app has 8 default colours, which work perfectly through the app. However, tried using the colour chart to pick PINK (not part of the 8 default colours) and the app kept refreshing stating connection with WiFi to be an issue. Tried to bring my phone closer to the LED strip device as requested in the app and still doesn't work.
Thought ill be smarter and use the DIY option in the app and select PINK, but yet the app won't allow me to choose PINK and continuously kept refreshing the app and LED strip. So annoyed!!!
The music mode and scene mode don't change to beats or scene. There are preset scenes like candlelight, movie, romantic which add the same colours out of the 8 default colours. Tried different music videos or movie scenes, but no changes to the LED strip. Useless!!
Save yourself the hassle and purchase another LED strip costing much cheaper than this as it is not worth your hard earned money!
I shall request the seller for a refund and will update this post if successfully refunded or rejected, leaving me with this useless product!

After addressing my issue to the seller, the customer service team was quick to respond and offered me steps to see if it helps resolve the issue. I tried all the steps, but it still failed. Upon writing to the team again, they kindly agreed to offer me a replacement, which arrived really quick. I tried the product and it worked perfectly fine. I was able to choose and select any colour from the pallet and it synced well with the Govee Home App.
I assumed the issue lied with the app, but the initial strip was faulty. And thanks to the excellent customer service team, I was one happy customer! :) Highly recommend the product which is backed up with a great Govee team! Cheers!
