They are lovely utensils to use but I will confess I did leave the spoon in a non stick saucepan and a naked flame on the next burner as I had taken a saucepan off that one but forgot to turn the gas off and then smelt burning smell and realised the handle was burning (not catching fire) it was totally my fault and obviously shouldn't have been left exposed. I am very happy with the whole set.

We've never had any problems with handles melting. We do not leave the utensils in pot while cooking which I am sure has helped.

I'm sure you could if you put it over a direct flame. But the spoon is more likely to caterpult itself out of the pan first because of its counterbalance weight that tries to keep the business end in the air.

I've had the set for about 4 years and the handles are still perfect but I imagine if you left them on a hot flame or ceramic hob, they'd melt.
