Salter 1036 SVSSDR Disc Electronic Scale

We got this to replace our old kitchen scales which have worked faithfully for almost a decade. The Salter works really well and is incredibly easy to use. It does get dirty quickly, but easy to clean.
Two small niggles - the build quality seems to be quite frail, whereas our old one was built like a tank. The other minor annoyance is the battery compartment uses a cross head mini screw - the tiny ones you need a very small screwdriver to remove. It also had a plastic battery insert tab, which my daughter pulled out and the scales wouldn't work - opening it up, I could see pulling the tab out pulls the battery out too - so it's likely you may need a mini cross head screwdriver just to take the plastic tab out - why couldn't they just build the normal battery covers you open with your fingers? We got the silver Salter 1036 max 5kg model, currently selling for £13.15
