Lucky Saint is made with the highest quality Pilsner Malt, the freshest hops and our own single-use yeast. No flavourings, no additives, no adjuncts.
We trialed multiple water make-ups but it was the fresh, crisp spring water from Bavaria that consistently delivered the cleanest flavour.
Lucky Saint doesn’t taste like an alcohol-free beer because it’s not brewed like one. We honed each process in pursuit of one thing - flavour.
After enough trial and error, there’s a moment where the recipe clicks. Is that luck? It may be, but we like to think we make our own.
Describe your products in 3 words?
Great tasting beer
"How did you come up with the idea for this product?
I always loved the proposition and the idea of alcohol-free beer. But I never drank it. There wasn't a beer I loved, or a brand that empowered me to drink it. So I thought to myself "how hard can it be?" Quite hard it turns out... so hard in fact, that at one point a senior figure in the industry told me I'd be better off making fizzy drinks. But after two years, working with six different brewers in three different countries, I brewed a beer that I felt genuinely moved the game on.
What makes your product special?
At Lucky Saint, we do one thing, pilsner-style lager, and we do it really well. We start with the four ingredients you find in a proper pilsner (Bavarian spring water, Pilsner malt, Hallertau hops, our single-use yeast) and nothing else. No flavourings, no additives, no adjuncts. We brew, ferment and condition the beer for six weeks. In case you were wondering, six weeks is indeed a long time but it allows the beer to develop the fullest flavour. It also allows us to leave the beer unfiltered, which means it retains more flavour, body and character. Finally, we reduce the alcohol content using a patented process called vacuum distillation. So that's it, Superior Unfiltered Lager that is 0.5% abv.
What has been the best part of your experience?
As a small brand, we never did any consumer testing, or anything sensible like that. So when we launched, I genuinely didn't know what the reception on the beer would be like, what would people say about it. As a result, I am continually humbled by reviews we get, by the press coverage, and by the emails we get from customers who love the beer. I don't think that will ever get boring.
What does it taste like?
A classic Pilsner with biscuity malts with a smooth, citrus hop finish.
Is it made in the UK?
Lucky Saint Unfiltered Lager is brewed in Bavaria, Germany, because the technology we use to make it isn't available in the UK. The fact that Bavaria is the home of great lager doesn't hurt either. Lucky Saint is a British brand, based in London.
Why is it 0.5%? Is that still alcohol free?
Flavour - that tiny bit makes all the difference. According to EU law 0.5% is classed as alcohol free, this is because the body metabolises that amount of alcohol as quick as you can drink it. Things such as ripe banana can contain 0.4% alcohol
How many calories are there in a bottle?
Is it suitable for vegans?

Now on my 3rd case.
However, for anyone following a low carb diet this is not as low carb (11g/bottle) as some other low alcohol beers.
A bit pricy but quality not quantity counts
Must use less packaging as the amount of cardboard is disproportionally large for the amount of product
For health reasons I can’t consume much alcohol so have been trying all varieties of non/low alcohol beers. Lucky Saint is, so far, the one that tastes just like an ordinary beer.
They’re great if like me you can’t consume much alcohol or if you’re driving or you want a midweek beer without the guilt.
